Production Manager, Applied Materials

Position Purpose

  • Responsible for achieving the scheduled production output target and line yield requirements.�
  • Managing cost, quality, resource and schedule for production output target.
  • Ensures on-time delivery, coordinates with various groups to ensure the product meets customer requirements.�
  • Responsible for identifying operational process issues and efficiency improvement tools.
  • Production managers in this level may act in a managerial capacity having responsibility for lower level managers or may manage complex specialized projects.�
  • Supervision of operators and PM technicians team.

Responsibilities

  • Achieves the daily production output target.�
  • With the engineering teams� support, monitors the tools up-time status and control the tools availability to meet the production requirement.
  • Manages the Operators and PM technicians teams, arrange the manpower for day/night shifts, ensures that all daily work is documented and well maintained, and all government and company policies are enforced with regard to proprietary information, patents, technology development and confidentiality.
  • Manages the production raw materials, manpower resource, monitor and control the WIP (wafer in process) to make sure the production smoothness.
  • Ensures operators and PM technicians are well trained and follow the SOP, prevents the human manipulation errors to ensure the line yield to meet the requirement.
  • Coordinates the quality assurance issues.�
  • Monitors, controls and reports on safety issues or concerns related to production.
  • Calculates and monitors key process indicators and works with functional managers to develop long-term action plans that address operational issues.
  • Owns, generates and verifies key performance metrics.
  • Mentors and trains lower level managers.�
  • Identifies training needs, updates curriculums, and develops training programs.

  • Establishes and recommends improvements for functional group procedures.�

  • Resolves complex production process problems affecting all project managers and documents appropriate procedures.
  • Analyzes complex situations involving design engineering and manufacturing.

  • Decisions have a direct impact on divisional efficiency.�
  • Erroneous decisions or recommendations could result in missed revenues, failure to achieve major organizational objectives and/or seriously affect the image of the organization�s capability.
  • Adds to quality of product by defining procedures to be used division-wide.��

  • Acts as advisor to middle management on unusually complex issues and projects.
  • nteractions involve matters between functional areas, other divisions or customers.�

Management Role:

  • Responsible for leadership of cross functional team(s) composed of operators, PM technicians, manufacturing personnel, materials managers, and/or outsourced product suppliers; typically manages direct reports and others in a matrixed reporting relationship.

Job Specifications

Knowledge:

  • Requires full use and application of standard principles, theories, concepts, and techniques of production management.�
  • Requires knowledge of production tools, procedures, milestone management, supply chain management, product development process and products option architecture.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Requires ability to negotiate contracts with service providers to support a variety of projects.�
  • Demonstrates ability to mange outside service providers.��
  • Requires strong skills in production line management, change management, problem solving, communication, customer orientation, products technology, personal effectiveness, team skills and quality procedures.�
  • Demonstrate ability in Human Resources management and leadership.�
  • Requires knowledge of systems and software necessary to perform job function such as Lotus Notes, MS Office, Oracle, FRACAS and/or Product Specification Tool.

Education and Experience:

  • BS level degree or equivalent in Engineering or a related technical discipline or BA in Business.
  • 8+ years directly related experience, to include previous management experience.
