Position Purpose
- Working under occasional supervision, is responsible for performing the on-site installation, servicing, and repair of complex semiconductor manufacturing systems.
- Ensures high levels of system performance and customer satisfaction within assigned account(s) by demonstrating full technical proficiency and good communications skills.
- Applies techniques obtained through formal training, on-the-job training, and self study to perform routine maintenance on specified product(s) and to diagnose and correct failures on Applied Materials’ products.
- May function as a specialist on products to resolve complex system problems which may occasionally involve some process, software or hardware issues outside of assigned territory.
Responsibilities
- Is proficient on primary toolset and demonstrates ability to acquire additional systems and applications.
- Performs startup activities through Tier II with limited support.
- Able to complete qualifications with minimal assistance.
- Completes quality repairs.
- Actively responds to fab issues by communicating with engineers in other locations and participating in escalation conference calls.
- May initiate or participate in projects to drive down costs or increase uptime.
- Ability to carry out action plans and report findings.
- Verifies operational quality of system equipment.
- Follows all checklists and procedures and ensures correct Revs of procedures and schematics are available prior to performing work.
- May identify procedural issues.
- Can perform most retrofits on equipment.
- Assists in process issues.
- Applies diagnostic techniques and the use of documentation and test equipment with assistance from senior engineers.
- Assumes responsibility for full customer satisfaction assuring excellent relations within assigned area.
- Demonstrates strong interest and knowledge of the customer’s business.
- Builds and maintains customer satisfaction through clear, consistent communication and the sharing of collective knowledge.
- Is consistently able to operate in high pressure or ambiguous situations.
- Solicits customer feedback.
- Understands the impact of various actions/decisions on the account.
- Is aware of potential dissatisfiers and escalates as appropriate.
- Develops and executes corrective action plans.
- Performs BKM’s.
- Actively engages in the use of knowledge management systems.
- Complies with all IP guidelines.
- Complies with all safety procedures and consistently demonstrates safety as a value.
Working Conditions
- May be exposed to cramped work space, mechanical, electrical, and/or chemical hazards.
- Requires attentiveness to safety precautions at all times.
- Occasionally required to work rapidly for prolonged periods of time.
- Will routinely bend, stoop, reach, or walk.
- Will be required to work overtime and/or travel on short notice, including unscheduled call-in from home and work other shifts as needed.

- Ability to routinely lift, pull, or push objects weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without accommodation.
- Ability to effectively use hand tools, meters, scopes, and other pertinent specialized equipment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Required Education and Experience
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- ASEET and 3-5 years electromechanical experience, or equivalent, or BSEET and 2-4 years electromechanical experience, or equivalent.
- At least 2 years in the semiconductor industry.
Process and/or software experience on related semiconductor equipment. - Requires current driver’s license and passport.
- Must be willing and able to travel.
- Flexibility to work on shifts/overtime/stand-by/on-call/holidays when required.
PREFERRED:
- Previous experience on Applied Materials’ equipment.
- Well developed technical communication skills.
- Ability to recommend methods to enhance customer satisfaction and assist in training less experienced customer engineers.
- Ability to understand customer process and assume responsibility for customer satisfaction.
